LEVY — Active collection
- Status: enforcement in progress
- Levy notices to employer/bank
- Step 6 of 6
What this letter is
If the sequence runs to the end unanswered, the IRS can garnish wages and levy bank accounts. Bank levies hold funds for 21 days before remitting — a built-in window designed specifically to allow resolution.
Your response window
The 21-day bank-levy hold and ongoing wage garnishment are both reversible. Enforcement is a phase, not a verdict.
Your options at this stage
Levies are released for economic hardship, upon entering an installment agreement, or while an offer in compromise is pending. Every tool from earlier in the sequence still works — the paperwork is just heavier.
Plain-numbers note: Even here, resolution is procedure, not miracle-working — whatever the billboards say.
